REFRIGERATION BY EVAPORATION

Mohamed Bah Abba (1964-2010) from rural area of northern Nigeria developed the pot-in-pot refrigerator.

POT-IN-POT REFRIGERATOR Only two terracotta pots of different sizes, wet sand, and cloth.

THE PHYSICAL PROCESS

Convert liquid water, gaseous water by a source of energy, heat.
The hot heat up the terracotta of outside and then the water of the sand evaporate, as the terracotta is covered with cloth the gas pass through the inside terracotta. This gas makes that the inside of the pot decrease some degrees.
 

THE MEHOD A pot is inserted into another, both with a hole in its base. The space is filled with sand. The sand is wet because the terracotta container is porous and the water  is converted in gas. Also is covered with a cloth.

UTILIZATION
Put food on the middle small pot and cover with a cloth. Leave it in an air place and to give it some heat.
